EXPERIENCE
WALLER CREEK
LET’S MEET AT THE CREEK !
Waller Creek is a historical watershed system that runs south through the Longhorn campus. The creek brings life to our campus and offers numerous points of serenity for students, staff, faculty, and visitors to enjoy. Take our immersive walking tour and learn about the rich history of the Waller Creek Watershed on the Forty Acres. Narrated by Creeky the Creek Monster (aka “Creeky”), who’s been around a lot longer than the University of Texas.
Creeky is considered the spirit of Waller Creek. With Austin and the 40 Acres growing, began materializing in the past few years. First as a sculpture created by Fine Arts students, and now the official mascot of the Longhorns Don’t Litter campaign. Thank you to the Green Fund for helping bring Creeky to life in 2025!
MEET YOUR TOUR GUIDE, CREEKY
Howdy Longhorns! I’m Creek Monster, but since we’re friends, you can call me Creeky. I’ve lived at Waller Creek since before it was called Waller Creek, so I know everything there is to know about these parts.
I’ve put together some resources to help you as you explore and enjoy my home.
Never forget my rally cry: Longhorns Don’t Litter!
Scroll down to listen to Creeky’s audio tour of Waller Creek, and learn more about this hidden environmental gem on the UT campus. Creeky tells 10 podcast-style stories, with topics ranging from the Battle of Waller Creek to the Pollinator Garden. Did you know there’s even a time capsule tucked away behind the Alumni Center?
Then, put on your headphones and check out any of the 10 tour stops:
